Barbara Bush, wife of former US president George H. W. Bush, was admitted to the Methodist Hospital in Texas on Tuesday, December 31.
The former First Lady has early signs of pneumonia. The Bush family’s rep, Jim McGrath told the New York Times, “Former first lady Barbara Bush was admitted to Methodist Hospital in Houston’s Texas Medical Center yesterday for treatment on a respiratory related issue. She has already received visits from her husband and family, and is receiving fantastic care.”
According to the New York Times, the couple celebrated New Year’s Eve in the hospital together. The parents to former US president George W. Bush had to conquer several health issues in the past few years.
In 2008, Barbara Bush underwent surgery for a perforated ulcer. In March 2009, she had a heart surgery. George H. W. Bush received treatment for bronchitis in 2012 and was diagnosed with a form of Parkinson’s disease.
