Hangouts Replaces Messenger In Google +

Google Hangouts has realized its intent to bring together the messaging experience across all Google’s services, by saying goodbye to Messenger service on Google Plus. With an update, Messenger will part ways with Android for good. It will also leave iOS soon. Hangouts will replace Messenger on Android as well as iOS.

Here is what Google’s Product manager Ben Eidelson has to say about the update:

Retain Old Conversations

Google has promised it would replace Messenger with hangouts only after finding a way to export conversation histories to the new service. According to Google, users can download an archive of their old conversations using Google Takeout.

The update adds new features to android, such as snap pictures and videos from Google Drive and share on Google Plus. Users can also switch between multiple accounts without logging in multiple times. Google+ will soon welcome the Pull-to-refresh feature to simplify the process of refreshing feeds.
